I'm probably a little biased about this author's work; she appeals to me on so many literary levels. Her books have snark, alpha males, hot sex and more. This newest in the Coletti Series continues that fine tradition as well as a kick-butt story line. I would highly recommend reading the previous books but understand the first two are out of distribution. So sad!
This story revolves around Jaylan and Bree. We've met Jaylan before, but not Bree; although she is related to the Jones clan. Jones women are heroines in two of the previous books. That relationship comes up on occasion when Bree gets a little "out of hand." While this series features the woman having no choice about her mate once she is bitten, the women in these stories don't take it lightly and fight until they develop feelings on their own. And it's their sheer difficultness that makes them irresistible to the Coletti. How awesome is that?
As with her cousins, Bree possesses psychic abilities that make her attractive to the Coletti as well as ease her way in the universe. When she and Jaylan find themselves on an extremely hostile planet, her abilities alternately get them in trouble and save them. As well as find them allies among the local residents. I loved the cameos of previous characters, the development and use of nicknames to annoy and sarcasm taken to new heights. And the sex rocked too.
My only complaint was the epic cliffhanger the author left me with; verbal outbursts were made. The next book will hopefully be released soon.
Bree never thought her dimwit act, military grade mace, cattle prod, or dumping a ton of stinky manure on Jaylan's head would encourage his pursuit. Who knew a Coletti warlord would think being zapped with a cattle prod as foreplay? Or that a clever opponent only heightened his enjoyment of the chase?
The chase comes to an abrupt halt when the Tai-Kok attack Tucson, forcing Bree to team up with the Coletti warlord to stop them. Suddenly plucked from Earth by a crazed Tai-Kok commander, Jaylan and Bree find themselves stranded on a hostile alien world, and being tracked by a deadly Askole assassin. Neither of them expected to find love.
