The Nobleman and the Spy

When Bonnie Dee and Summer Devon work together on a book, it becomes an automatic buy for me. I know anything that is co-authored by them together will sweep me up into the intricate lives of the characters and the fast paced storyline. So, when I noticed that the book, The Nobleman and the Spy was up to be reviewed, I anxiously requested it, and I’m glad I did. Not only did The Nobleman and the Spy immediately captivate my attention from the first page, it held it onto it until the very last word.
For many years, Jonathan Reese, has lived his life on the edge. Once a soldier and now a government spy, he’s learned to guard his heart jealously and never give into the weakness of human emotions. When he’s assigned to spy and watch over Karl von Binder, a nobleman’s son and someone who has once spared his life on a soldiers battlefield some time ago. Even though Jonathan has conflicting emotions and thoughts on spying on Karl, he’s determined to do his duty, but once he’s in the presence of Karl, he can’t help but be mesmerized by the larger than life man.
Karl von Binder has never forgotten the man on the battlefield years ago. When he runs into him again, he knows in his heart that there is much more to Jonathan than meets the eye. Even though he’s gruff, dangerous and mysterious, Karl can’t fight the attraction and budding feelings he has for the quiet man. But, as they begin to trust one another and their relationship progress, someone is out to kill Karl forcing both men to question the fragile trust and bond that they’ve established together.
I loved this book. Karl and Jonathan are two very different heroes. Jonathan can be cold and unapproachable at times. He’s naturally wary of others and doesn’t make or trust others enough to make friends. Karl is totally opposite. He has a zest for life and is well liked among his peers. He’s bold and brassy and once his mind is settled on something, he has the drive and determination to achieve whatever he wants. Once he sets his mind on having Jonathan in his life, he does everything he can to make that becomes a reality.
I love the lyrical and easy style of writing that these authors have. Not only are their stories well plotted out, the heroes always have amazing chemistry together which I truly appreciate. Plus, the sex scenes are smoking hot and at times, pretty creative. I also thought Karl and Jonathan brought out the best in each other, and I really enjoyed watching these polar opposite men find a common ground and make a life together.

Book Blurb for The Nobleman and the Spy

They once faced each other on a battlefield. Now soldier-turned-spy Jonathan Reese must keep watch over the man he’s never forgotten. A close encounter reveals Karl von Binder, the count’s son, also recalls the day he spared Jonathan’s life.

Sparks fly between the former enemies and Jonathan begins to lose perspective on his mission. He knows he must maintain distance because the heat he encounters in Karl’s touch stirs him far too deeply for his own good. He can’t keep away -- especially when he suspects someone is trying to kill the nobleman.

The spy becomes a protector as Jonathan guards the man he’s begun to care for. Together the men try to puzzle out who would benefit from Karl’s death -- and how much they’re willing to trust each other when a torrid sexual fling threatens to become an affair of the heart.
