The Handsome Prince is a multi-authored anthology that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Once I started it I ended up reading it cover to cover in one afternoon. It's a highly addictive book that captivated me from the first story until the last page. Every story was well written, fun, sexy and worth reading more than once.
There are several reasons that I highly recommend this book. There are fourteen stories in this anthology, and although I really liked all of the stories, there were a few that I truly loved. My favorite stories in the book were: The Master by Fox Lee, In A Clearing by Rob Rosen, The Prince of Eisengraf by Neil Plakcy, Chauffer Prince by Bonnie Dee and Added Benefits by SA Garcia. All of these stories were erotic, creative and had heroes I adored. Even though each story in The Handsome Prince is around ten to fifteen pages long, they still were very erotic. I also liked the intense chemistry between the heroes and there was an emotional connection that I really appreciated.
There was another reason I enjoyed this book. I was introduced to some authors that were new for me. In my opinion, it's rare to read an anthology where every story is enjoyable to read. This is one reason why I have a tendency to steer clear of them, but I was very pleased and happily surprised that The Handsome Prince was not only a great book, I now have some authors that I had never had the privilege of reading anything from them before. Now I have more authors that I'll be keeping an eye out for in the future and I'm really looking forward to reading more stories from all of them.
The Handsome Prince is a perfect book if you are looking for an erotically romantic, quick read. Every story has at least a Happy for Now ending, and all of them end on a positive note. Since I am a hopeless romantic myself, I admit that I loved that. I also adored the theme of the book itself. Just as every little girl wishes for their prince, there are little boys that wish for their own prince too. I'm glad to see that this was addressed in a lovely, romantic fashion that makes this an excellent vacation or rainy day book to read. I am thrilled to say that The Handsome Prince has earned a spot on my keeper shelf and I highly recommend it for homoerotic romance readers.
We all know the fairy tale. The handsome prince comes riding up on his white stallion and rescues the beautiful princess from her enchantment with a single kiss. Then they ride off together to live happily ever after. But what if the person longing for that handsome prince is a man himself? And, why not?
Neil Plakcy's The Handsome Prince is a mix of traditional and contemporary stories, each with its own unique fairy-tale atmosphere. Sometimes the prince is the one who needs rescuing, as in ?Chauffeur Prince” and ?Creosote Flats and the Big Spread.” Sometimes the true prince is the other guy?like the tales told in ?The Virgin Prince and the Rebel Chief” and ?Reckless.” There is humor and charm in these stories, with an underlay of passion and desire. The one thing these stories have in common, along with the original fairy tales, is a happy ending. These stories drip, quite literally, with romance. Whether it’s a HEA?happily ever after?or a HFN?happy for now?when these guys find their princes, hot steamy sex ensues. Here’s to stories (and heroes) that make us swoon!
