Winged monsters have been seen in the skies, and a pestilence follows in their wake, threatening the very survival of mankind.
The Men of the Blood Hunter…
The year is 3048, Earth is no longer habitable, and man has fled to the stars where they’ve discovered the secret of immortality—Meridian. Unfortunately, Meridian is exorbitantly expensive and only available to a select few. A new class, comprised of the super rich and immortal, soon evolved. The Collective, as they’re called, rule the universe. But as with any civilization, there are some people who just don’t want to be ruled…
My series, Dark Desires, follows the adventures, romantic and otherwise, of the crew of the space ship, the Blood Hunter, as they wreak havoc across the universe. The crew has changed over the years since the series began, there have been a few sad losses, and a few exciting additions. Then there’s at least one crew-member who has been there from the beginning and will be there at the end.
The Blood Hunter is an equal opportunity employer, men, women… Hell, you don’t even have to be human. But today, we will concentrate on the male members of the crew; sexy, gorgeous and alpha to the bone. Here are a few lesser known facts about the men on board the Blood Hunter.
1. Rico is the Blood Hunter’s pilot.
He’s also a vampire. Born in the Middle Ages in Spain, he’s one-thousand, five-hundred and ninety-six years old give or take a few. Rico has done a lot of things in his life; pirate, gambler, even a reporter at one time—any job that could be done after the sun went down. Back on Earth, Rico was a huge Star Wars fan, and dreamed of being a space pilot. Now, he has his own space cruiser. He likes to think of himself as a sort of Han Solo with fangs.
2. Jon is an alpha werewolf.
He’s a pack animal who likes to be alone, which makes him a little bad tempered. He helps with security on the ship, which basically means, if they get into a fight, he’s usually in the middle of it—hell, he probably started it. He was, at one point, the highest paid assassin in the known universe and the only person to ever manage to kill one of the Collective.
3. For a long time—too long he would say—Callum was the most powerful man in the universe.
He got to tell everyone what to do—which wasn’t nearly as much fun as he expected it to be. Callum was actually the man who discovered Meridian when his ship crash landed on Trakis Seven. He was also the first of the Collective to grow wings (about five hundred years later, and it came as a huge shock.) Callum is the captain’s consort.
4. Devlin is the ship’s engineer—after taking over the job from his little brother, the Trog.
He’s a genetically modified jaguar/human hybrid with cat claws and pretty stripy hair. Devlin was the leader of the Rebel Alliance and the most wanted man in the universe. He used to sleep with two female guards at the bottom of his bed—just to make sure he was safe—or that was his excuse. Not any longer!
5. Fergal is the tech expert on the Blood Hunter.
He’s a cyborg and can literally talk to computers. Fergal used to be a reporter and would go to extraordinary lengths to get a story, which is how he got involved with the Blood Hunter in the first place. On his last assignment, he actually cut his arm off (well, got a friend to do it) in order to go under cover with the company, Cybercom. Now, he has a cybernetic arm, along with a few other enhancements. On a side note—that also means his blood tastes disgusting, which is probably just as well as his girlfriend is a vampire who might otherwise get carried away.
6. A little something extra
And finally Thorne, who isn’t really a member of the crew, more a hanger on who just can’t seem to drag himself away. Due to an accident involving a spaceship and a wormhole, Thorne is the oldest person in the universe…by a long, long way. He’s also part dragon…To find out more about Thorne, you’ll have to read Flying Through Fire, book 6 in the series, which is coming out soon!
Winged monsters have been seen in the skies, and a pestilence follows in their wake, threatening the very survival of mankind. Only the crew of the Blood Hunter knows where they come from, and only one man has the power to send them back—Thorne, a human/dragon hybrid in possession of mental powers beyond comprehension.
Candace Decker doesn’t need anyone to look after her—she’s a badass werewolf more than capable of protecting herself and those she loves. All the same, she’s always been drawn to Thorne’s strength. In an uncertain world, he’s the one man who makes her feel safe. And what Candy wants, she usually gets.
But while Candy is tenacious, Thorne’s willpower has been honed over ten thousand years. He might want her, but the last thing he needs is an infatuation with a young, impetuous werewolf. Candy makes him lose control, and that could have disastrous consequences.
As the threat escalates and they become separated by time and space, Candy must find a way back to him, because while Thorne alone has the power to defeat the dragons, only together can they finally bring peace to the universe.
Each book in the Dark Desires series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.
Nina Croft grew up in the north of England. After training as an accountant, she spent four years working as a volunteer in Zambia which left her with a love of the sun and a dislike of 9-5 work. She then spent a number of years mixing travel (whenever possible) with work (whenever necessary) but has now settled down to a life of writing and picking almonds on a remote farm in the mountains of southern Spain.
Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction.
