Come to Me

“Come to Me” by Jaymie Holland (Cheyenne McCray) is a paranormal novella featuring Kara Marks as her life is changed forever by a man who claims to be from the future. Adan Valnez is the clan Leader and knight of the Blackstar Realm and has been tasked with locating the elusive Star Crystal. The only guidance he is given by his sorceress-queen is that it is hidden on Earth in the region of San Francisco and he will have to travel to the year 2011 to find it. Mysteriously, he has been told to recover the crystal and the treasure that is with it before their enemies the ice-ghosts and the ice-witch can gain control of it and destroy Adan’s people. Amazingly enough, Adan’s attraction to the woman from his distant past coincides with his mission but Kara has to accept major upheavals in her life in order to reconcile what she is being told by the mysterious man who keeps reappearing in her life. They will have to find a way to follow their hearts even as they fight to save Adan’s world.

A time-travel tale that blends magic and science in an imaginative tale. There are multiple factors that are coalescing to cause a threat to Adan’s world but somehow the story didn’t quite flow logically for me, especially with the multiple encounters that are initially required for Adan to hone in on his objective after he is sent across time and space with such precision. The author’s ability to write sensual scenes provides wonderful interludes but I felt that much of the action was a little too contrived so this wasn’t my favorite work by her. (Note: This title was previously released under a different title)

How did life get to be so boring? Kara Marks has a mundane career and a mundane life and wishes for a little excitement—and gets far more than she bargained for.

A dark stranger begins to visit Kara in her dreams. Night after night the man returns and treats her to passion so great she is left wanting and needing every morning. The dreams are so real that she begins to wonder if she’s losing her mind. Soon she learns that not only is the mystery man of her dreams, Adan, flesh-and-blood, but he’s brought very real danger to her doorstep, danger that could mean her life.

Adan Valnez is on a mission to find a missing stone that contains powerful magic, before an evil force obtains it. When he meets Kara, what he locates is trouble in the form of a passionate woman. He is drawn to her nightly, and he can’t seem to hold himself back. He can’t stop thinking of her, can’t stop going to her. Even though he visits her nightly, and passion and lust flares between them, he can’t allow her to remember him when he’s not there.

But when the magical stone—a pendant Kara has had since she was a child—falls into the wrong hands, everything changes. Now it’s a race to save the stone, a world, Kara’s life, and to preserve an eternal love.
