Emma Landon has everything going for her. She’s smart, pretty, has lots of close friends and even has a boyfriend that adores her as much as she does of him. She’s been in tons of musicals throughout her school years, but this year in particular is a special one because her high school is going to do The Sound of Music. This is one of her favorite stories and she wants to snag a decent role opposite her boyfriend, Trevor.
All she dreams about is being able to dance together with him on stage and sing the most romantic story possible to Trevor. But everything turns into a mess when she lands the lead role and plays opposite against the school loner, Biker Mike, instead of Trevor. Now she doesn’t know if it’s worth taking the role after all.
Does Emma decide to take the part even though she’ll play opposite Biker Mike? Does she get to learn more about Mike and change her opinion of him or does she avoid him at all costs? What’s the lesson everyone learns in the story?
I really enjoyed this young adult story. I found myself thinking about my high school years again and all the plays my school had put on that I tried out for and had parts in. Ms. Marciniak has a way with her writing that not only entertains young adults, but also adults alike. I found myself flipping the pages as quickly as possible to find out what was going to happen next to everyone. This is a perfect story to pick up for those young adults in your life. I’m sure they’ll enjoy it as much as I did reviewing it!
