I was so anxious to read this book and I was in no way disappointed. The author paints a vivid picture full of family ties, past mistakes, burning passion and everlasting love. The first book in this series introduced us to Jules as a roommate to Clay, the hero in Defying the Odds. Now Clay has introduced her to Romeo, the man who almost beat him in the ring and who is now his protégé. With names like Romeo and Juliet it was almost destined to be, but what they have to go through to be together is almost too much.
Romeo and Juliet start off as a one-night stand that neither of them can let end. After sexting for months they are finally reunited and it’s explosive and steamy but also full of suppressed emotion. Neither went into this looking for forever but neither can let the other go. So they fight. The Mafia, siblings and each other. Alternately sad, funny and steamy this was another winner from the author and I’m so psyched to read about Wyatt and the mysterious Tabitha. Lots of crumbs were left as to that story and I’ll just console myself until it comes out by rereading Defying the Odds and Star-Crossed.
Heavyweight UFC fighter, Romeo Wellings comes from the hard streets of New York where his family ties to the mafia cause him nothing but pain. His life takes a surprising detour when he crosses paths with the twin sister of his long-time enemy. After a steamy, one-night stand, he faces the fight of his life, but it’s not in the cage. The secret relationship that blooms between Romeo and his real life Juliet has him battling his family and a dark past rather than let her go.
The only lawyer in her hometown of Garnet, Jules Conner is also a volunteer Sheriff’s deputy and co-owner of a successful MMA training center. Strong and dependable, Jules is always there for those who need her. Until one forbidden night in Las Vegas with Romeo leaves her feeling so alive she can’t stop reaching out to the sexy bad boy of the UFC, even knowing the forbidden love affair could jeopardize everything.
As the tide rises against them and the people they love work at keeping them apart, Romeo and Jules hold onto a dream for a better life together and vow to go down fighting rather than accept a tragic ending.
