Christy made it through the first part of her life barely alive. Drowning in low self-esteem, a well-intentioned but toxic parent, and her own reliance on food for comfort made her make some radical changes in her life to gain control. Now on sabbatical she comes face to face with her latest obsession: Cole Bowen. While she’s fantasized about him from afar it never occurred to her he returned her hidden interest. What he proposes can’t possibly work, but she’s helpless to resist. Is it history repeating itself?
Cole can’t believe the full frontal attack his brother’s engagement has wrought. Now that one Bowen brother has become engaged every woman of marriageable age is out to snag the two remaining. In desperation Cole makes a bargain with hot little librarian Christy. Sex for fake dates. She gets the sex she wants (as does he), and he gets a feminine buffer against the masses. What could go wrong?
I absolutely adored this story. The author did an awesome job peeling back the layers that make Cole and Christy who they are today, and illustrates the intimacy of revealing those secrets to another. Full of graphic sex (the best kind) and creative locations this also presented the guilty pleasure of one-upping the town snob and getting the gorgeous man. The one no other woman could ensnare. Not bad for a former fatty with a bad self-image. This is a book that is about more than sex, it’s about disrobing your soul to the one who means the most and trusting them to cherish it. A must read in what is turning out to be a favorite series by a new-to-me author.
Steering clear of relationships has never been difficult for demolitions expert Cole Bowen, but now, with his brother's engagement sending the female population into full-blown hysterics and the town of Alden's month-long festivities helping along, he finds himself in hell. When he discovers Alden's new resident and the object of all his wet dreams, Christine Sheridan, has sworn off relationships and is going to hire a gigolo to get professionally laid, he decides to kill two birds with one stone.
Christy is so not drinking again. Thanks to José Cuervo she has her friends signing her up for stud conventions and Cole frigging Bowen offering sex in exchange for fake dates, which is so out of the question it isn't even funny. She knows the domineering man will push her boundaries, and after battling all her life with self-esteem issues, she isn't ready for that. Too bad he won't take no for an answer.
Cole is determined to strip away all of her defenses but refuses to lower his ever-present walls, so when Christy realizes she wants more, she's left with only two options; walk away or crack his shield and risk her heart in the process.
