This was a very well done story. Well enough done that I started to look for more work by Chris Bauer. Only to find that there is only 1 other piece out there and it is another short.
This was very well written and exactly the right length. He does not make the mistake of trying to get a novel length work out of a short story idea. This would also have worked wonderfully as the center piece of an anthology.
When the original purchaser no longer needs their airline ticket, Cliff buys it for a bargain price. Upon boarding, he realizes he has nothing in common with the passengers. When his flying companions reveal a variety of destinations and arrival times, it means little. That is, until he discovers the flight is a Special Charter. A work of short horror from our Spectres line.
