A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Terri

Rosemary finally has her nest complete, 7 men. It’s taken her a long time and there were some dead bodies left along the way but she can finally relax. Even Felix is back to his old self which means Rosemary has an interesting night planned. Rosemary is a cambion queen and her nest keeps her demonic qualities in check.

Though Rosemary may have an interesting night in store with Felix, the rest of her nest doesn’t plan on being left out. They show up just in time to make the night even more interesting. That’s not what they showed up for though. Their plan is a surprise for Rosemary, a vacation with her prince, Kurt.

It took Kurt a while to join the nest but he completed it as its prince. He doesn’t plan on just being there though, he plans on being part of the leadership. To do that he’s going to need Rosemary’s trust and cooperation. To do that, he has a very special trip to Colorado planned.

Can they work out their power struggle without anyone getting hurt?

This is a very short story, about 17 pages. It’s also part of a bigger series.

Much of the background information comes from other books and is only briefly mentioned in this story. This lends itself to some confusion of exactly how a nest works and why a nest works for a new reader. The explanation is given in one or two sentences and then never explored. Previous events are mentioned, including ones that have major impacts on the characters, but they too aren’t fully explored as they must have been major plot lines in previous books.

There are also a lot of characters to keep track of, Rosemary and seven men! Because most of the men aren’t in most of the story, they are only glossed over. Kurt, Rosemary and to some extent Felix are the only characters that have any type of lead role. Still, with this short of a story, it was hard to get a real feel of them.

There was plenty of sex though. It came in almost any variety you wanted from a quickie in the hallway to full nest participation to just Kurt and Rosemary. Lots of elements were thrown out there too from sexy clothes to BDSM.

I’m rating this story as a new reader. It was an interesting glimpse into a very unique series. It made me interested on exactly what the series was about and gave me insight on how this author writes.

However, if you are a fan of this series, you will probably love this short story. You’ll have the background information to fully enjoy it and understand the characters to appreciate Rosemary’s vacation.

This story is well written and very fast paced. The premise of the series is unique and intriguing. However, while this gives you a taste of the series, I would suspect that reading it in its entirety would be better.
