A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: PaulineMichael
Evie Balos creates a world where readers lose themselves in the struggle between vampires and dhampirs and the humans who exist with both races. I loved the world that was created in this story and wish that I could have gotten a better glimpse into the lives of the vampires. Jovan was one alluring hero. His distinct air of darkness and his protective nature just weakened my knees, and the fact he is practically blindsided by his reaction to Nina definitely made him a keeper for me. Our leading lady was headstrong and independent and she knows she wants him the moment she sets eyes on him. I love how she never made anything easy for him and even though he tried to dissuade her she never backed down. I enjoyed the hint of action and would have loved to see it in more detail. The descriptions in this book were vivid and enjoyable, I felt as if I had walked into a local bookstore when we followed Nina to her brother's shop and I could practically smell all the books. The bodyguard concept is oft used but Ms. Balos breaths a freshness into the conventional idea. I cannot wait to read about the future adventures of other dhampirs and vampires.
When her Daphne friend has a premonition that Nina Bradley is going to be attacked by vampires Nina ignores the warnings. Jovan Markovic is doing a favor for a friend when he decides to guard the reluctant Nina from danger. She's attracted to the sexy dhampir and cannot stop fantasizing about him. He never thought this human would be a threat to his half-vampire heart and while he is responsible for her safety, he can't keep his mind of her.
