Jeff needed a miracle. Left alone with two children after the death of his best friend, he is grieving and lost. He was the sperm donor and godfather and never intended to be 'daddy'. Donnie wants nothing more than to care for children. Since getting his degree, he's had many interviews but no job offers. It seems no one wants a male nanny. He arrives at Jeff's home in the middle of a crisis and knows that he's found his place. Caring for Jeff's children is everything Donnie hoped for and more, however, his feelings for Jeff are a surprise. Perhaps this is more than a just a job, maybe it's the beginning of a family. This one sucked me in from the very first paragraph. It's a touching and emotional look at the creation of a family from the ashes of a tragedy. Jeff is an awe inspiring character whose courage and integrity shine through. He didn't have to give up his old life to raise these children. No one would have blamed him for letting someone else do it. But this was what Beth wanted and he did love those kids. Donnie comes to the rescue, not only with his childcare knowledge but with empathy and understanding. Their journey is a heartwarming one, filled with humor and hope, grief and healing. There's a subplot involving Jeff's ex that serves as a stark contrast to what Donnie and Jeff share. A very enjoyable read that will leave you with a smile.
