A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Daisiemae
The Ice Prince by Jessica Freely continues the story of partners Seth and David. Ms. Freely is one of those authors that is an automatic buy for me. I like her easy style of writing and her books always pull at my heartstrings. Her characters are humanly flawed people that are irresistibly adorable, and her books are always a fast paced and satisfying to read.
Things have been going pretty smoothly for Seth and David for a while. Things start changing when David finds out that the beloved bookstore that he works at is in danger of closing, this starts a chain of events that tests the emotional bond that the two men have developed between them. When David finds out a troublesome secret from his past, this pushes the couple further apart. As David’s life starts to fall apart, Seth is really becoming more comfortable in his own skin. Both men know that there is a wall forming between them, but have been helpless to stop it. Will they be able to find their way back together and trust in the amazing love they have for one another before it’s too late?
I have to admit that David and Seth are one of my favorite couples. The love and devotion they share between them is truly a beautiful thing to read. To see their relationship tested and pushed to almost a breaking point was hard to read, but it was also wonderful to see these men grow, find and give forgiveness and develop into stronger men than they were when the book and this series began. Another reason this series is a good one is the supporting characters also play a huge part in Seth and David’s lives. It’s lovely to watch strangers become friends and even like family as these books have progressed. I’d love to read more about David’s friend and adoptive father in many ways, Mr. Haverstock get his own happy ending. I hope that Ms. Freely continues writing about these wonderful characters in the future. They truly are amazing people.
The Ice Prince is the third book in the series. I do think it could be read as a stand-alone book, BUT if you haven’t read the previous books in the series, I highly recommend that you do. To truly understand the dynamics between the characters it would be best to start at the beginning and work your way through the series. You won’t be sorry because David and Seth’s story is truly a beautiful one.
Here are the books in series order: Hero, Rust Belt and The Ice Prince.

Book Blurb for The Ice Prince
The habit of silence is hard to break.
Isolated by a cold and lonely past, David was on his own until Seth came along. Together they've forged a life full of love, friendship, and scorching hot sex. But just days before Christmas, David discovers a long buried secret that sheds new light on the father who rejected him.
The revelation dredges up painful memories and threatens to exile him to an icy land of silence. When Seth opens their home to a young man in trouble, David withdraws even more in a misguided effort to deal with his confusion and jealousy. The fact that the bookshop he's worked at since high school is in danger of closing just makes everything worse. Seth wants him to talk about his problems, but what good are words when they can't pierce his unresolved grief?
Seth is worried about David. Something's wrong and he won't talk about it. Day by day, he's closing himself off, and everything Seth does to try to reach him just drives them further apart. As the holiday's approach, both men will learn valuable lessons from unexpected sources, but the most important will be the secret to melting a frozen heart.
